Andringitra National Park

Tour proposal: 4 days in Andringitra National Park

Who has a Trip to Madagascar for whom the nature of the island should be one of the most important sights. The numerous endemic animal and plant species can hardly be achieved anywhere as well as in one of the numerous national parks of the island. This tour is an ideal complement to the highland route from Antananarivo to Tulear.

The Andringitra Mountains is one of the highest mountain ranges of Madagascar. This mountain range runs across the central highlands south of Ambalavao.

Because of its scenic beauty and the many endemic plant species, the mountain range has been part of a new national park since 1999 (Andringitra National Park) become. The trails in the park are in very good condition. This variant is intended for experienced and persevering hikers who want to hike in untouched nature in Madagascar. Andingitra National Park is located in the mountain range of the same name in the central highlands of Madagascar. This national park is the destination of one of our individual tours, which includes a full four days in this national park. Experience the untouched nature of the island and witness unique flora and fauna. The tour was designed to be especially persevering hikers with great experience. For inexperienced hikers this route is rather less intended. Below is a brief summary of our proposed offer to give you a first overview. The Andringitra National Parkwhich is managed by the WWF, among others, is famous for its exceptionally high biodiversity. For example, this national park is believed to be home to more than 100 different species of birds, around 50 species of mammals and 55 different species of frogs. The starting point to explore these unique natural diversity is located in Ambalavao, from where we start by car on the RN 7 towards the south. The accommodation is located in the Tsarasoa Lodgefrom where the first hike starts on the second day. It goes through a diverse mountain world, the Namoly Valley and to the sacred waterfalls. The next day is dedicated to the Pic Boby, the second highest peak of Madagascar, as well as the so-called Lunar landscape Paysage Lunairewhich is characterized by bizarre rock formations. The nights are spent in tents. The next day is then marked by the return to Tsarasoa Lodge, where various sports activities and Lemur observations can be optionally installed if desired. Appeal for donations

After 10 months of total inactivity, self-employed people in the tourism industry in Madagascar are completely without income. There is no opening of the borders in sight in Madagascar and we are at the beginning of the rainy season, which is the low season, even in normal times. I have started a fundraiser for the guides and drivers I know well. From this money we will buy rice and other essentials and distribute them regularly, if possible, until the resumption of travel activities in April 2021 at the earliest. My special thanks to those who have already donated. I will start buying rice tomorrow and will begin distributing it this week.
