With the bike, you can often still go where even all-wheel drive vehicles are no longer reliable. In addition, a bicycle tour allows you to travel at your own individual pace and to discover the island of Madagascar at your personal pace. In this context, we have also put together an offer: At our Bike tour with support vehicle you can enjoy the option of traveling some stages of the pre-selected route comfortably by car. After all, the climate on Madagascar is a matter of habit for many Europeans and can definitely drain your strength during a day-long bike tour. But before you now the Madagascar flights and thus also your Madagascar vacation booking, we would like to provide you in advance with some advice regarding cycling on the island. This way we want to make sure that you know exactly what to expect.

A high quality bike is the most important requirement

In Madagascar, you have few options to rent a quality and reliable bicycle. Most of the companions offered to you would not survive a trekking tour or even a day trip in one piece. In Antananarivo, on the other hand, you can rent from us trekking bikes imported from Germany and Austria, as well as mountain bikes rent

Alternatively, you can of course bring your bike on the plane as luggage. However, you should absolutely check the baggage policy of your airline even before you buy your ticketbecause there are sometimes very different regulations as well as very different transport costs. We recommend a mountain bike or a robust trekking bike including good suspension, comfortable seat and waterproof saddlebags. The necessary tools and any spare parts you should have in the best case also directly in stock, because in Madagascar, especially in the villages it is almost impossible to get the appropriate parts.

Many factors determine your travel experience

If you have a Madagascar bike tour If you are planning a trip, you should take various factors into account right from the start: On the one hand, the seasons and the climate are enormous influencing factors, which, for example, also determine the stage length.

In some regions of Madagascar, it is so hot that you need to plan for extensive breaks. In addition, you will also have to Ensure supply of food and drinking water as well as overnight accommodation options at an early stage. Many areas in Madagascar are sparsely populated, so you will not find a store, restaurant or hotel everywhere.

We therefore recommend that you make use of our expert knowledge so that during your Madagascar bike tour not experience any unpleasant surprises.

When you are traveling in Madagascar, you should also take into account the traffic. While there is a lot of traffic chaos in Antananarivo and on certain busy routes, where it is better not to travel by bike, there are other parts of the country where you can ride all by yourself on roads and tracks. In these areas you will often quickly come into contact with the inhabitants and enjoy the landscape as well as the intercultural encounters in a particularly extraordinary way. A Madagascar bike tour needs to be planned carefully.

To the planning belongs of course also the optimal equipment at the Fahhrad itself and in addition there is here a very good councellor to the topic transport possibilities at the bicycle:

Help

FOR MADAGASCAR

After 10 months of total inactivity, self-employed people in the tourism industry in Madagascar are completely without income. There is no opening of the borders in sight in Madagascar and we are at the beginning of the rainy season, which is the low season, even in normal times. I have started a fundraiser for the guides and drivers I know well. From this money we will buy rice and other essentials and distribute them regularly, if possible, until the resumption of travel activities in April 2021 at the earliest. My special thanks to those who have already donated. I will start buying rice tomorrow and will begin distributing it this week.
