Welcome to the year 2021!

Happy new year ? - Welcome to 2021!

In Madagascar, life goes on, without guests and without lockdown.

Hope for normalization

Unfortunately, a concrete hope for a stable economic existence and a confidence in a boost of the tourism industry is not in sight.

Madagascar is a fascinating island, one of the few destinations that are still almost terra incognita. It has become a little visited but very popular tourist destination, despite the crisis last year, few have canceled, but postponed the trip until later.

Proof that Madagascar has not been forgotten, but has only become temporarily inaccessible.

Unfortunately, Madagascar has been cut off from the outside world for almost 300 days, the first time in almost 20 years I realize that I live on an island.

I will continue to post a daily blog post until flights are allowed again, hopefully that will be before Easter 2021.

With this, Madagascar shall not be forgotten, at least on my side.

Since 300 days we have no income and no sales, an absolute catastrophe that we ourselves could cope with so far without having to lay off our close employees and for the freelance employees was also organized by me through a Crowdfunding taken care of:

gf.me/u/y8yrjd

It keeps them afloat every month and they don't have to sell the fleet, which is their only income.

Part of the donations is also secured for emergencies, at Christmas the house where my housekeeper's children live burned down (Ambohimasoa).

Her mother and her own 2-year-old son are temporarily housed with neighbors. We take care of the immediate reconstruction of the house and also minimal equipment.

There is no risk of infection and you can move freely throughout the island, the health authorities fear a new infestation due to the import of the viruses via guests from Europe and therefore the country remains hermetically closed.

I wish all of us, the guests as well as the drivers and other participants in the tourism industry a much better year and we hope to welcome guests again soon.

In the long months the site has been significantly improved, new offers in various areas, new blog posts explain aspects through which you can get a better idea of the offers and travel options.

Help

FOR MADAGASCAR

After 10 months of total inactivity, self-employed people in the tourism industry in Madagascar are completely without income. There is no opening of the borders in sight in Madagascar and we are at the beginning of the rainy season, which is the low season, even in normal times. I have started a fundraiser for the guides and drivers I know well. From this money we will buy rice and other essentials and distribute them regularly, if possible, until the resumption of travel activities in April 2021 at the earliest. My special thanks to those who have already donated. I will start buying rice tomorrow and will begin distributing it this week.
