Driving yourself in Madagascar

We offer exclusive self-drive tours in Madagascar.
Unlike neighboring African countries such as Namibia, South Africa and Botswana, here in Madagascar there are few opportunities to rent a car and explore this fascinating island on your own.
Whetherprobably the conditions for self-drive safaris in Madagascar are much more difficult than in other African countries, we offer flexible and customized tours. The concept is perfectly adapted to the somewhat habit-forming driving on Madagascar.
You have the freedom to drive the vehicles yourself, but you also have the advantage of having an experienced guide just in case. Two options are available: either a small group is formed and the guide leads the self-drive convoy or individual tours are offered and the guide rides along as an advisory co-driver, as long as there are no problems with the guest sitting at the wheel.

It is also possible to drive totally autonomously, for this purpose several off-road vehicles are available:

For paved roads and easy tracks Toyota pick up is available, for slopes rather Land Rover Defender and Toyota Ladcruiser.
We offer several very interesting tours for self-driving in different levels of difficulty. The first offers have no fixed dates and are only possible examples. They can be personally adapted to the respective guests.

As with all other travel, we have a dedicated customer service department, we strive to provide you with exceptional customer service. From your first call to and logistics we provide a streamlined customer experience. We are expert car rental consultants, I have lived in Madagascar for very many years and have become a reference as a tour operator in German speaking countries and my partner specializes in off road tracks.

Available vehicles:

Landrover 90 2.5 atmospheric:

A privileged off-road vehicle for the back roads, impressive when crossing difficult passages but slow on the road. The Land Rover Defender is a rugged off-roader, perfect for the most demanding tracks in Madagascar.

The Land Rover Defender is equipped with 90 kW/122 hp 2.4-liter common-rail diesel engine, which has a maximum torque of 360 Nm. All Defender models are equipped with permanent 6-speed all-wheel drive. The Defender's fuel consumption averages 10.0 to 11.0 liters of diesel per 100 km.

Landrover 90 300 tdi:

The best of Land Rover technology, no onboard electronics, impressive on very difficult terrain and quite powerful and unique on the road. This off-road vehicle is one of the classics of automotive history, this Defender also has a box frame made of steel and a body made of aluminum. Nevertheless, the kerb weight is relatively high and also the air resistance of the body limit the performance on the road but the vehicle is absolutely brilliant for the tracks. The 300Tdi engine is reliable and diesel consumption is 10 to 11 l/100 km/h. Very short transmission.

Toyota lj 70 2.8 atmospheric:

Very enjoyable car, although somewhat slow on the road, exceptional performance on difficult tracks. With an off-road heritage spanning more than 65 years, the Land Cruiser remains unique in its ability to combine outstanding quality, durability and reliability with unrivaled off-road performance.

Toyota hilux d4D 3.D double cab:

Comfort and space for 4 people, very pleasant to drive.

All vehicles are equipped with jack for four-wheel drive vehicles , mud or mixed tires depending on the route less than 30% wear,.

Appeal for donations

After 10 months of total inactivity, self-employed people in the tourism industry in Madagascar are completely without income. There is no opening of the borders in sight in Madagascar and we are at the beginning of the rainy season, which is the low season, even in normal times. I have started a fundraiser for the guides and drivers I know well. From this money we will buy rice and other essentials and distribute them regularly, if possible, until the resumption of travel activities in April 2021 at the earliest. My special thanks to those who have already donated. I will start buying rice tomorrow and will begin distributing it this week.
