Dear Nicole, Dear Klaus Soon it will be 1 year since our Madagascar adventure and still we like to think back to the many great experiences, the lovely people we met and the extraordinary nature. Even though we are very experienced travelers and at the beginning it was hard for us to accept to take a driver and to decide the route more or less in advance, it was definitely the right decision and everything was so super organized by you. Aina, who met us at the airport, was immediately sympathetic to us and has become a valued companion and friend during this time. Without him the trip would not have been the same: He was always flexible, helpful and told us an enormous amount about the country and its people and taught us a phrase or two in Gasy. We had a lot of fun together. We also had a great time with Gege and his troop, who accompanied us up Peak Boby in Andringitra National Park. We hope he has recovered from our hiking pace in the meantime J We laughed a lot, sang and danced around the campfire. No idea how to spell it, but the songs "Ombla bey" and "Schipclodimena" are still ringing in our ears. Poor Aina had to listen to our chanting over and over again for the rest of our trip, stopping at the next bush for every " Ulumbelu tsi akuhu "J. In the Residence Eden Lodge we found a small paradise in a familiar atmosphere, from which we did not want to leave. The trip on the RN 7 was a unique experience, not least because of the kind people who crossed our path. Thank you very much for your great organization. Keep up the good work.... Collapse

Dear visitor of the guestbook! I have already sent my personal greetings including the due thanks together with my travel companion Christian by means of an own mail to Klaus with family and team. I would like to inform the readers of the guestbook that it makes absolutely sense to entrust yourself to a trustworthy and experienced organizer, if you want to experience as much as possible or as intensively as possible of the "sixth continent" in a short time. Because Madagascar is not only geologically, biologically and culturally a separate continent, but also because of its size. In addition, the road conditions and traffic connections do not facilitate an individual progress. If you want to get to know the country and its people more closely and safely, have little time to do so and know neither the Madegassian language nor enough French, and would also like to minimize the actual greatest risk when traveling in this way - I'm not talking about robberies but traffic accidents - then you should definitely contact Klaus and his team in the case of this fascinating island. No matter what you hope to find on Madagascar, Klaus can give you advice and will do his best to find a way. I was particularly impressed on the tour proposed by him, the visit to some villages in the highlands and on the east and west coast with direct contact with the extremely friendly people there. In addition, we visited mines, rovas, small - not overcrowded and financially not overpriced - national parks, a rum distillery and so on. - always rounded off in the evening with perfect hotels and lodges. No matter if the overnight stay was in a rustic jungle camp, in a 5 star lodge in the middle of a canyon or a colonial bungalow on the beach: service and accommodation were always excellent. However, one should never forget that one is in one of the poorest countries in the world and also encounters a different mentality, which leads to differences in the standard of accommodation and services that one may be used to at home. Finally one makes a journey also therefore, in order to experience evenly different? Klaus offers in Antananarivo at the beginning and at the end of a round trip always his private domicile - which is also equipped with comfortable bungalows - as accommodation. You can start and end your trip there in a pleasant atmosphere: together with him and his family (hello Nicole!). Klaus speaks French and Madegassian, has lived on the island for 18 years, and by his own admission has still not seen and experienced everything Madagascar has to offer! We have been able to experience him as a perfect mediator between us as visitors and the locals, who is highly appreciated by the Madegasses themselves and who employs an outstanding team of drivers and guides (I would especially like to highlight Adaffi and Anja - best regards from Austria!!!). Without exaggeration I may claim that we were able to experience Madagascar so intensively only because of the service of Klaus and his team. In this sense, I can only express the unrestricted recommendation for anyone who wants to visit Madagascar: "Klaus is the man with the plan!" Martin Reich, Imst, Tyrol, Austria (on Madagascar in May 2016 together with Don B.- C. Novak)... Collapse

Dear Nicole, dear Klaus After three weeks in Madagascar, everyday life has caught up with us again. We are still living off the incredible impressions we brought back with us. Together with Leonid, our perfect driver, who picked us up at the airport and accompanied us until the last day, Dauphin, our German-speaking guide from the rainforest, who knowledgeably explained plants, animals and customs of the population, we were a great team in the four-wheel drive car. You combined the few places I had given you to an eventful trip with well-chosen accommodations, from the Kirindy Lodge in the simplest version to the Isalo Rock Lodge with 4 star standard. The adventurous drive to Bekopaka through several mud holes was an experience in itself, thanks to Leonid who has his car perfectly under control. The trekking tour in Andrigitra NP was well organized by our guide Gege (?), the two nights in the tent with evening campfire in the hut are unforgettable, as well as the two evenings in the fantastically located Tsarasoa Lodge with spontaneous musical accompaniment. In Isalo NP we followed Klaus' tip and explored the area from Isalo Rock Lodge, saving us the official park entrance fee. We did not regret it, the region around the lodge, including the small village, is gigantic. Under these impressions we forgot to book our return flight from Toliara to Tana in time. No problem for Klaus, he organized the return trip with Leonid and an overnight stay in Antsirabe at short notice. Thank you very much for the great organization and your hospitality in Villa Sybille. Best regards Peter and Christa... Collapse

Dear Klaus, dear Nicole, Luckily we came across your website after booking our horseback riding vacation in Madagascar (May 2016) and you provided us with more wonderful days before and after. Without your help we would not have seen so much of the island, let alone had any idea where we could stay and how long we need to get there and how to get away again :-). Your stories, Klaus, about the customs, culture and flora of the island have made the vacation much richer. We will definitely come back and are super curious to see more of the island AND of course meet you and your team again! Thank you, thank you for the great help, bookings and ideas we could just blindly rely on! We will certainly recommend you to others. Very very dear greetings, Susann and Heike... Collapse

Dear Klaus, dear Nicole You have made a journey possible for us that was like leafing through a big picture book, opening up new landscapes again and again and providing breathtaking insights. Thank you both very much! We appreciate very much how well you were able to read out from our mail exchange what was important to us and then translated that into the planning of a great three-week trip. The suggested rhythm of staying and driving was really well done. Initially, I was rather skeptical to follow the RN 7 with a rental car and a driver, because we, as Sahara experienced self-drivers, like rough terrain a lot and actually prefer to move autonomously. But it was good. Very good, in fact. As tragic as it is for the country's population that the central transport axes are not better maintained, we enjoyed the not-too-fast progress. Leonid is a prudent and very attentive driver who was able to respond well to our requests. Since we were the first ones he was touring with all by himself, information sometimes came very spontaneously. Or not. But Leonid certainly has the potential to be an excellent guide. His friendly and unobtrusive manner will surely be enjoyed by other Vazahas. Our highlights? Difficult to say. There were so many. Maybe the trek up Bic Boby in Andringitra Park with the nights in the tent and Gege's excellent cooking, the 250 pirogues with their fishermen right next to the Hotel Belle Vue in Ifaty, the river trip on the Canal des Pangalanes during a terrific cloudburst. Most likely we will come again. We are impressed and have become very fond of the country and people. Frauke and Erich... Collapse

Through your organization, your experiences and tips, we can count our vacation to the most impressive so far and still live on it today! 🙂 Adafi and Anja welcomed us warmly on our arrival in Tana and gave us a wonderful evening at a reunion in Antsirabe!;-) Through your chosen driver, Aina, we had very enjoyable rides, fun conversations, and a whole lot to better understand and process our experiences and adventures in Madagascar! We know that this will not have been our last trip across the, despite its poor conditions, breathtaking red island. We are already very much looking forward to explore more great corners, maybe this time together with you two ;-)! Take good care of yourselves, little Stephi and all the other dear ones and keep doing your work so warmly and dedicatedly, then many more people will be allowed to experience such a great time, like us and some already before us! 🙂 Best regards, Ludwig and Jeannine... Dear Nicole, dear Klaus. Thank you very much for the impressive two weeks I was allowed to spend with you over the turn of the year. On the long drive from Tana to Sarodrano, I had the opportunity for the first time, on my third trip in Madagascar, to get to know impressive insights into the simple and poor life of the people in this beautiful country. It does not always have to be the national parks that one visits in a country. Many small "jewels" are also scattered throughout the country, often not far off the road. You have the experience and knowledge to show these treasures to your guests and bring them closer, whether landscape and people or fauna and flora. I myself was touched by the close, personal contact with the inhabitants in village 13. To see how they keep themselves afloat with the simplest of means, what a home of theirs looks like and how friendly they welcomed us, touched me deeply. And yet somehow I had the impression that they have even more of life than we do in Europe. With many hundreds of photos I took home beautiful memories and I hope that they will tide me over until we meet again in July for a great adventure: The splendor of the slopes Kind regards Martin... Dear Nicole and Klaus It was a great pleasure to meet you and to accompany you on the way south to Toliara. We have seen and experienced a lot, thanks to your insider knowledge and years of Madagascar experience. Isalo Rock Lodge is a true Isalo paradise and the view from the room and from the rock impressed us very much. Very interesting was the sapphire digging town of Ilakaka and the visit to a mine where we could see first hand how muscle power is used to dig and search for sapphires. We have experienced Madagascar up close and wish you continued success and interested tourists who find their way to you. We can only warmly recommend a trip with you: friendly, uncomplicated, knowledge enriching, authentic, safe and up close. Thanks again for everything.... Collapse

Dear Nicole, dear Klaus After we hit the bull's eye in 2013 with you as our guides, we decided to go deeper into the country with you. When we presented you with our proposals for a south piste tour, we were initially met with well-founded skepticism. Questions such as impassability and accommodations were at the center of our negotiations. Never before had you accompanied such a tour as we had requested. But soon the route was tailor-made and while for us the focus was on the flight bookings and the anticipation, for you it was the logistics that had to be mastered for this pilot project and you succeeded brilliantly. Then it got serious. The vacation had it in itself: approx. 2500 km pilot runway journey over the south cape Sainte Marie away = dream fulfillment for Norbert. Imagine standing at the southernmost point of Madagascar...you have to get there first. We were allowed to experience that and then somewhere far behind the horizon, where the water line merges into the sky, lies Antarctica...madness yet. Sweaty shirts, sand in the sandals forever, water bottle at hand, camera in pose, swimming in turquoise ocean, eating fish and crustaceans, strange flora and fauna, alien cultures, heat, sunsets...3 weeks hot-sandy-dusty-stony with you and our excellent driver Dam on the road - thank you for the feeling of security, competence, being cared for. The insider tip Eden Lodges worked out perfectly, the night in Kirindy Forest Lodge with the giant cockroaches and the flea infestation of Klaus completely off. That's the way it is when you sit on the sleeping place of a fossa. Unpleasant: Norbert's heart attack shortly before the end of the vacation. Immediately you looked for solutions. Through your tireless, selfless and competent actions, our joint journey home became possible. And especially on these few days of sorrow we felt your warmth of heart. Please think occasionally also of resting with e.g. the 5th piano concerto of L.v. Beethoven.... Thank you for a dream trip of the first order and to all those who will make this tour after us, we say: ouch, we were the first... We say "goodbye" if you like! We like want... Dear Klaus, the cold Germany has us again and we have to use pictures and video recordings to remember the beautiful time in Madagascar. We would like to thank you again for patiently going through all the changes caused by Air Madagascar with us. At the same time, I would like to warn other Madagascar travelers against booking with this airline. Not only the flights within the country but also the ones to Paris were constantly changed in our case. Sometimes a flight was canceled, then again the return flight was postponed by 2 days. My patience was at an end when I was offered a negative connecting time for a flight within Madagascar and all my attempts to contact them went unanswered. It was only with great difficulty that I finally managed to get them to take note of my cancellation. I would never have believed that an airline could work like this! In the end, even without domestic flights, we had a wonderful time in this exotic country. Adafi and Anja had a big part in that. With them we had the perfect travel companions, we couldn't have asked for better. They were instrumental in helping us get to know much of the country and its people. Thus, even without French language skills, we not only got through the country, we were able to experience it! The guide you recommended from Ambalavao also did a very good job. Patiently he accompanied us to the Pic Chameleon and through him also interesting insights into the village life in the Tsarano valley were possible. We wanted to see lemurs, chameleons, baobabs and the Tsingys, relax a little on dream beaches and get an insight into Malagasy life - we had all that and we will keep this colorful, poverty-stricken country in very good memory. Your recommendations for the accommodations were just right for us, also for this a heartfelt thank you. A praise also to your cook in the villa Sybille. We liked your food the best! We wish you and your team all the best and many more satisfied guests. Best regards from Richard and Karin... Collapse

Dear Klaus, dear Nicole, dear Adafi and dear Anja, We would like to take this opportunity to thank you once again for the perfect organization and the wonderful support. The whole trip has deeply impressed us all and brought us an incredible amount of joy. Of course, we were thrilled by the country, the people and the nature. But above all it was your warm welcome and the friendly atmosphere that made us feel so comfortable the whole time. This is not a matter of course and made the trip something very special! For all readers and interested people our entry in the guestbook should be an urgent recommendation. Our trip went from August 1-20, 2015 from Tana via Antsirabé, Ranomafana, Manakara, Andrigita NP to Sarondrano/Tuléar. The whole process of the trip, the hotels, the visits and activities were perfectly organized by Klaus. Requests for changes were also implemented at short notice without any problems (instead of the originally planned Isalo NP we spent 2 days in Andrigita NP - which we can highly recommend). We (we 4 and 2 other guests) were accompanied by Adafi and Anja. Adafi is an excellent guide and driver. No matter how bad the road was or how close the chickens came...☺ - we felt very safe at all times. He managed everything very well, organized all visits and activities on site and translated into English for us when necessary. Anja organized with heart and commitment the many, small things: be it shopping at the market, a barbecue or a dinner at the beach. Anja and Adafi always made sure that we felt comfortable around the clock and even gave us special pleasures with some spontaneous ideas. We learned a lot from them about the country, the people, their customs, the plants and animals. Thanks to their professional but also very personal care and their guidance to places where you could look 'behind the scenes', we felt the trip as a little less touristy and more like a common journey of discovery. We sang, danced and had a lot of fun together. It could not have been better.... Collapse

Dear Klaus, It has been several weeks since we returned from Madagascar in early July and we are still raving about our great trip! We would therefore like to thank you and your team very much. Aina did a great job - empathetic and courteous, he read our every wish from our lips and made many a great photo possible. We felt safe at all times with him as our driver and guide. We liked the itinerary (Tana-Manakara-Tulea r) very much with the varied impressions and the frequent changes of scenery. All our wishes came true: colorful nature, impressive animals and plants. At the end of the trip there were more highlights: Relaxation and excitement at the same time on the national holiday in Sarondrano, after all the local soccer team had won the regional final. They celebrated happily in the evening at the Recidence Eden in the presence of their families and the hotel owners. We got chicken skin when later the whole staff said goodbye to us with a song and small gifts, because we had to leave one day earlier due to the strike of Air Madagascar. We would like to thank you again, Klaus, for the wise decision to leave Aina with us in Sarondrano during the uncertainty with Air Madagascar, so that he could take us back in the car to Tana! Have only read something on Facebook from him, where he makes among other things also advertising for his tours. FOR MADAGASCAR

After 10 months of total inactivity, self-employed people in the tourism industry in Madagascar are completely without income. There is no opening of the borders in sight in Madagascar and we are at the beginning of the rainy season, which is the low season, even in normal times. I have started a fundraiser for the guides and drivers I know well. From this money we will buy rice and other essentials and distribute them regularly, if possible, until the resumption of travel activities in April 2021 at the earliest. My special thanks to those who have already donated. I will start buying rice tomorrow and will begin distributing it this week.
