Sailing tour in 7 days Nosy Be, Baie du courrier, Nosy Hara

This original and authentic cruise will take you to the natural park of Nosy Hara. Scuba diving and snorkeling are possible at every stage of this itinerary.

The archipelago consists of 17 islands north of Cape San Sebastian. The most important one is called Nosy Hara.

This area surrounded by coral reefs is protected since 2012, it offers fine sandy beaches, turquoise lagoons, tsingys and many aquatic and coral species.

This cruise lasts at least 7 to 8 days, at the end there are available for the return trip a variant by land or the return trip on the catamaran.

The most favorable time is in April and May. Then, in November, December and January.

The travel days in detail

Day 1: Nosy Be - big mitsio

Embarkation at the crater (Ambatoloaka) and departure towards Grande Mitsio, visit of the island, the beautiful beach of Ampasindava and the Pachypodium forest.

Behind the south-western tip of the island are basalt organs, a geological formation of black basalt.

Day 2: Cape Saint Sebastian

After breakfast, the route continues towards Cape San Sebastian.

Snorkeling or diving, anchoring on site.

This site is located far above the dive sites that are normally frequented around Nosy Be, so the dive sites are intact and unexplored.

Day 3: Nosy Hara-Baie du Courrier

Departure to the archipelago of Nosy Hara in the middle of the Baie du Courrier.

The area, which has been protected since 2012, consists of 17 islands surrounded by coral reefs and offers you the opportunity to spot seabirds, Bats and many Reptiles to observe, including the Brookesia micrathe smallest chameleon in the world.

Located in the northwest of Madagascar, the Nosy Hara is a small piece of paradise that is still little known. However, this place contains one of the most extraordinary marine landscapes in the world. This has earned it the status of a marine national park since 2012. The elongated island of Nosy Hara covers an area of 312 hectares and measures two to three kilometers from north to south with a width of a few dozen meters. It consists mainly of the characteristic Madagascan tsingy and beautiful white sandy beaches.

It is an idyllic place, cut off from the world.

Day 4: Nosy Lava

Nosy Lava is a volcanic island surrounded by cliffs that drop steeply to the sea.

A tongue of sand connects the two parts of the island.

This island is located in front of the city Analalava on the mainland. With its turquoise waters, coconut palms, fine sandy beach and white limestone cliffs, Nosy Lava offers everything that makes a paradise. Nevertheless, this island is steeped in history: from 1911 to 2000, it was Madagascar's last prison island.

Today, the prison is completely abandoned and you walk through the remains of old buildings that are gradually becoming covered in vegetation.

Behind the old buildings, a path leads through the mangroves and allows you to penetrate deep into the savannah of tall yellow grasses and climb up to the lighthouse, from the top of which you have a magnificent panoramic view over the whole island.

Visit the shark fishing village.

Day 5: Nosy Ankarea

Nosy Ankarea is a table-shaped basalt island bordered by white sand.

A path leads to the top of the island to admire the magnificent panorama of the entire archipelago.

This dive site is far above the dive sites that are normally found around Nosy Be are frequented, the areas are therefore intact and unexplored.

This small island offers beautiful beaches.

It is the highest island in the Mitsio Archipelago, its highest point is 238 m and it is covered with forests.

Day 6: Nosy Tsarabanjina

A magnificent island bordered by a white sand beach (in Madagascar its name means the island of white sand). The

The Nosy Tsarabanjina  island is a little piece of paradise in the middle of the ocean.

Starting from Nosy Be promises this island of the Mitsio Archipelago white sandy beaches and lush countryside.

It is considered the most beautiful island in Mitsio.

Colorful fish and corals teeming with life will leave you with memories full of eyes

There is a Sakalava cemetery in a large cave on the ground.

You will be able to observe fishing eagles, herons and water hens.

Day 7 - The four Brothers

The Monolithswhich emerge from the sea and on which a variety of birds nest, such as cormorants and frigate birds.

Northwest of Tsarabanjina are the very characteristic monoliths of the "4 brothers", which fall 20 or 30 meters vertically into the water.

They form a square that emerges from the surface of the water.

These rocky domes with smooth, rounded walls prevent access to their tops, but offer Thousands of birds ideal shelter and, above all, a nesting place where hundreds of families of Brown Boobies (Sula leucoblaste) defend a few square decimeters to build their nests in the cliffs, establishing a noisy colony.

Variant with the visit of the parks of the north

During your stay, you have the opportunity to go on a 7- to 8-day catamaran cruise and visit the Mitsio Islands and then the islands of the Nosy Hara archipelago.

In the second part of your stay, you will go ashore in Ampasindava, where a 4×4 will be waiting to take you to Diego-Suarez to bring.

You will visit the city and its remains from the colonial era as well as its large market.

The next day you will visit the Three Bays (Sakalava Bay, French Mountain and the Emerald Sea).

The next day you will discover the Montagne d'Ambre, a genuine primary forest that is home to numerous endemic animal and plant species as well as a magnificent waterfall.

On the way back, you can visit the Red Tsingy and Ankarana Park in one day or two days, depending on your program.

Return trip to the Land route

In this variant, a car with driver is available for you to complete or extend the tour by land as you wish.

The end of the trip is worked out through individual planning and the logistics are put in place.

Variant by sea without visits to the mainland

This third variant remains resolutely maritime.

You stay on the catamaran and return to Nosy Be by sea in various ways.

Here, too, we can customize the sailing trip, both in terms of its length and its content and possible activities.

Diving, snorkeling, fishing, watching whales or whale sharks and sea turtles-these can all be part of the trip.

Help

FOR MADAGASCAR

After 10 months of total inactivity, self-employed people in the tourism industry in Madagascar are completely without income. There is no opening of the borders in sight in Madagascar and we are at the beginning of the rainy season, which is the low season, even in normal times. I have started a fundraiser for the guides and drivers I know well. From this money we will buy rice and other essentials and distribute them regularly, if possible, until the resumption of travel activities in April 2021 at the earliest. My special thanks to those who have already donated. I will start buying rice tomorrow and will begin distributing it this week.
