Day 1: Arrival in Antananarivo
Our team will greet you immediately upon arrival at Ivato International Airport and transfer you to your hotel.
Villa Sibylle is a private guesthouse near the airport, surrounded by a tropical garden. Relax from the flight and enjoy your first dinner there in Madagascar with an overnight stay.

Day 2: From Antananarivo to Antsirabe
Route length: 142 miles (200 km) on laterite and asphalt
You will meet our team that will accompany you on the tour and familiarize yourself with your enduro machine. Off you go into the adventure of Madagascar: You leave the busy streets of the capital Antananarivo and continue on laterite underground, which is much more pleasant than the road.
Discover the heart of the Highlands among the rice fields, forests and huge granite boulders. In many villages along the way you will have the opportunity to interact directly with the locals. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Day 3: From Antsirabe to Ambositra
Route length: 87 miles (140 km) on laterite
The day's stage takes you into the fascinating world of the Highlands: through rice fields, small villages and rivers, the route descends the mountains to Ambositra, the center of craftsmanship in Madagascar.
Dinner and overnight at the Hotel des Artisans.

Day 4: From Ambositra to Ranomafana
Route length: 93 miles (150 km) on laterite
Experience the wildest regions of the "red island" on this day section.
On a dirt road, which quickly becomes muddy, you will follow the course of a river in the middle of the pristine rainforest.
The trail continues to Ranomafana National Park. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Day 5: Ranomafana - Manakara
Route length: 93 miles (150 km) on asphalt
This unique national park, which was established only in 1991, covers more than 42,000 hectares. In this park, located at an altitude of about 1300 m, you can visit one of the last mountain cloud forests on earth. A truly unique biotope, one can see (with luck) 12 species of lemurs, over 100 species of birds, insects, frogs, reptiles, huge trees and ferns. Hikes depending on the desire of the participants.

The cloud forest then reveals all its magic. Depending on fitness and interest, different circuits can be undertaken, the whole morning is at your disposal.
Now we continue through the peculiar hilly landscape near Irondro until we can sniff sea air in the afternoon: Palm trees and the typical houses on stilts indicate the proximity of the rainy east coast, then in Manakara we see for the first time the Indian Ocean rolling onto the wide beaches of the city.
After barely three hours we catch sight of palm trees and the blue, endless expanse of the Indian Ocean. In the coastal town of Manakara we visit the very busy market for the first time, here the famous pepper from Madagascar and also other spices produced there such as cinnamon, cloves, turmeric and of course first class vanilla can be bought cheaply.

Day 6: Manakara - Sandravinany
Route length: 143 miles (230 km) on asphalt and laterite
The day tour starts on asphalt.
You will pass Vangaindrano and drive overland along the beaches of the Indian Ocean. This tour depends on five ferries, it may not be possible to get to Sandravinany and in that case an overnight stay in Vaingandrano or on the way is necessary.
You will reach Sandravinany in the late afternoon. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Day 7: Sandravinany - Fort Dauphin
Route length: 62 miles (100 km) on laterite
A technically demanding stage awaits you: at the beginning of the day there are several river crossings with ferries.
On mostly muddy ground you will reach the destination Fort Dauphin.

Day 8: Fort Dauphin - Lavanono
Route length: 155 miles (250 km) on asphalt, laterite and sand
The beautiful day's route first takes you several dozen kilometers through the rainforest towards the thorn bushes of the south.
You will cross the regions of Anosy and Antandroy and finally arrive at the day's destination, Lavanono.
This small village is known for its beaches and popular as a surf spot. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Day 9: Lavanono - Itampolo
Course length: 43 miles (70 km) on sand
This is the shortest daily stage on one of the most difficult routes in Madagascar.
Along a beautiful coastline dotted with baobabs are the largest and most pristine sandy beaches imaginable. There is no way to stop along the way or you will be stuck in deep sand.
Concentration and technique are required. Serenity you will enjoy in the evening. Dinner and overnight at the Salary Bay Hotel. |
Day 10: Itampolo - Anakao
Course length: 81 miles (130 km) on sand
You will never forget this image: In Tsimanampetsotsa National Park, you will stand on the shore of a lake with milky white water, surrounded by petrified trees, where hundreds of flamingos, golden plovers and other wading birds live.
You will arrive quietly in Anakao. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Day 11: Anakao - Tulear
Route length: 174 miles (280 km) on sand and asphalt
For the last section of the tour, you will start in the morning on a sandy track that will take you to National Road 13 and Betioky.
You will cross the Onilahy River, get to National Road 7 and arrive in Tulear in the late afternoon.
Here you can add a connecting tour via the highland route RN7 or via the west coast, otherwise hold the planned return flight the next day to Antananarivo from where the tour can be supplemented again by connecting tours.

Day 12: From Tulear to Antananarivo (domestic flight)
A cab will pick you up from the hotel and take you directly to the airport.
End of our services, the motorcycles will be returned in Tulear.
Of course we can offer connecting tours or additional service in Antananarivo until the return flight and also take care of the domestic flight bookings if needed.

Checklist
Please stay with your luggage under 45 lbs weight (equivalent to 20 kg)
Bags:
A duffel bag is ideal, a hiking bag is also suitable (without steel bar). You can secure your bag with a padlock. Please remember to mark the bag with your address and the address of vacation in Madagascar.
A small backpack of 20 liters is good for the things of daily use, such as the camera and sunscreen.
A mattress will be provided on site for overnight stays. If you wish more comfort, please bring an additional foam mattress.
Beds, mattresses and comforters are available on site. Additional comfort such as pillows depends on each fellow traveler themselves.
Clothing and personal equipment:
Two light pants, four shirts (also with long sleeves for sun protection), , a swimsuit, sweater or jacket for cold nights, sunglasses, hat, light sports shoes, flip-flops, flashlight with batteries.
Special motorcycle clothing:
Motorcycle boots or waterproof trekking shoes are highly recommended, light leather or synthetic motorcycle jacket, rain gear, gloves,helmet. |
