Declared a national park in 2002, the park is not only home to a unique remnant of the dry forest vegetation that used to be found everywhere. More than 80 bird species, several lemur species and the extremely shy fossa also cavort in the extensive protected area in the south of Madagascar.<\/p>\n<p>With melancholy one looks at this beautiful piece of forest and thinks of how much has already been irretrievably destroyed.<br \/>\nThis makes this area all the more valuable, built entirely in harmony with the local population, the Bara.<br \/>\nIn addition to the character <strong>Dry forest vegetation<\/strong> of the deep south of Madagascar, Zombitse is also known for its geological peculiarities: wide, hilly plains, the soil consists almost entirely of pebble-like sand, which, deposited here as sediment, comes from the <strong>Isalo Massif<\/strong> originates. This explains the special interest of gemstone seekers in this region, as this is a potential gemstone site!<\/p>\n<p>From the park entrance at the southern end of the protected area, directly on RN 7 direction <strong>Sakaraha<\/strong> located, you can walk numerous circuits with a guide, from 2 hours duration to 8-9 hours!<br \/>\nBring enough water and provisions, it can get very hot!<\/p>\n<p>This national park is also for <strong>Entomologists<\/strong> very interesting and can also be a pleasant stay between the <strong>Isalo N.P.<\/strong> and the <strong>Mozambique channel<\/strong> be<\/p>\n<p>Zombitse N.P. can also become a very good alternative to Isalo N.P., this transitional forest from the vegetation of the highlands to the thorn forest of the deep south is extremely interesting both from a botanical and zoological point of view.<\/p>\n<p>Various baobabs, locally endemic birds, lemurs and much more can also be observed easily accessible trails. The entrance is just off the RN7, about halfway between Ranohira and Tulear.
