Last reserve on Nosy Be<\/h3>\n

The Nosy Be Island<\/a> lies at the Northwest coast<\/strong> From Madagascar<\/strong>. It is known mainly for its exotic beaches and tropical climate. But it also hosts in the southeast the Sambirano Forest,<\/a> the last primary forest of the island. Part of the humid and evergreen Sambirano forest is also the 7.4 km\u00b2 large Lokobe Reserve<\/strong>. It is the only designated protected area of the island and offers especially the endangered black Lemurs <\/a><\/strong>a refuge. These only find their home in small areas, but are fortunately the most common lemur species in Lokobe. Nevertheless, the population of the noble semi-monkeys is very small. The black lemur captivates above all by its magnificent fur. It owes its name to the male specimens of the species, whose fur is distinguished by its immaculate black coloration. The females, on the other hand, adorn themselves in reddish-brown. Also rare bird species like the Kingfisher<\/strong> or the Madagascar Long-eared owl<\/strong> are in Lokobe next to Chameleons<\/strong><\/a> and some locally endemic frogs <\/strong>native. The reserve is also a retreat for majestic panthers and several species of snakes, whose habitat is protected by the endemic Palm species and precious woods<\/strong> is described.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

A visit to the Lokobe Reserve on the beautiful island of Nosy Be<\/h3>\n

The area around Lokobe has already been named because of its unique beauty protected since 1927<\/strong>. The reserve was established in 1966. Efforts to have the area declared a national park and also open to visitors are currently ongoing and will hopefully soon be confirmed. In order to recruit Lokobe accordingly, several terrestrial and maritime tours<\/strong> elaborated, which show the uniqueness of the area. Small parts of the reserve can thus be visited even now. Near the villages Ambatozavavy and Ampasipohy<\/strong> in the east of the reserve, for example, there is an access that can be reached via a pirogue. Also in the west you can see the reserve of Ambanoro <\/strong>from the entrance.
