The travel days in detail

Day 1: Nosy Be - Mitsio

Early morning board the catamaran anchored at the crater of Ambatoloaka in Nosy Be, then crossing towards the Mitsio Islands. After crossing a sometimes stormy sea, you will have arrived in the calm and peaceful Mitsio archipelago. A true oasis of peace and beauty. You will be surprised to discover a group of uninhabited, pristine islands, where dream beaches and turquoise sea offer a magnificent spectacle. These islets form an incredible archipelago that includes Zarabandjina, Les Quatres Frères, Nosy Tolholo and finally the most important one, the great Mitsio. In this magnificent bay there are many beaches that give way to a landscape like from a dream. A lush tropical vegetation where lianas, orchids and baobabs make the landscape even more extraordinary. It is the main island of the archipelago. Not far from the coast, it is 12 km long and 3 km wide, rising to 206 m above sea level. You will find there several fishing villages, but also many paradisiacal and very quiet beaches. You will enjoy its tranquility on the white sands surrounded by warm and transparent waters. And if you feel like it, you can discover the south of the island, where a unique geological phenomenon occurred. In fact, basaltic organs emerge from the bowels of the earth and the sea in the form of long columns of brown rock several tens of meters high. An extraordinary excursion in a magical atmosphere! Lunch on board and late afternoon arrival at the 4 brothers, monoliths that emerge from the sea and on which a variety of birds build their nests, such as cormorants, frigates. Arrival in Mitsio main island for the night.

Day 2: Mitsio-Nosy Ankarea

Visit to the Great Mitsio, the magnificent Ampasindava beach and the Pachypodium forest. Opposite the bay of Marimbe rises the highest island of the Mistio, Nosy Ankarea. We can see from afar the massive shape of this large black rock emerging from the ocean. If the north face is indeed wild and steep, the entire south coast is bordered by a magnificent white sand beach with crystal clear water. We anchor a few meters from the beach and there is an opportunity for a wonderful snorkel before exploring the island. At the tip of the island is an amazing green valley where abundant aloe vera grows, endemic to the island. It can be reached after a somewhat acrobatic climb, but the view all around is breathtaking. Behind the southwestern tip of the island are basalt organs, a geological formation of black basalt. In the afternoon, depart for Nosy Ankarea, a tabular basalt island bordered by white sand. A path leads to the top of the island to admire the magnificent panorama of the entire archipelago. Return to Grande Mitsio for the night....

Day 3: Nosy Lava-Nosy Antaly

Departure to Nosy Lava, a volcanic island bordered by cliffs that drop steeply into the sea. This island is located opposite the town of Analalava which is on the mainland. With its turquoise waters, coconut palms, fine sandy beach and white limestone cliffs, Nosy Lava offers everything that makes a paradise. A sand spit connects the two parts of the island. Visit to the shark fishing village. Lunch on board and drive to Nosy Antaly. Night in Nosy Antaly.

Day 4: Nosy Tsarabanjina

Departure to Nosy Tsarabanjina, a magnificent island surrounded by white sand beaches (in Madagascar its name means white sand island) immersed in crystal clear waters. Nosy Tsarabanjina, sacred island of the Sakalava people. Nosy Tsarabanjina is a small piece of paradise in the middle of the ocean. Starting from Nosy Be, this island of the Mitsio archipelago promises white sand beaches and lush land. It is considered the most beautiful island of the Mitsio. Colorful fish and corals teeming with life will leave you with memories full of eyes. Animals also on land The island is home to a very diverse fauna: lemurs, chameleons, giant bats. But also whales, dolphins, turtles and manta rays. An immersion in the exuberant nature that the island offers. On land you can visit a rich vegetation interrupted by volcanic rocks and a Sakalava cemetery built in a large cave. Ospreys, herons and coots nest on this island. Night in Nosy Tsarabanjina.

Day 5: Nosy Faly

Nosy Faly, the Sacred Island The island is considered as such because the ancestors of the Sakalava, a Malagasy tribe, are buried there. The locals will let you discover the beauty of their island and their rites and customs. A preserved island Considered sacred because of the Malagasy faith, great respect is also given to the ecosystem of the island. Thus, the ecosystem of the island is best preserved by the locals, but also by the establishments that have settled there, most of which are eco-lodges. A breathtaking view After a short walk, climb the disused lighthouse on the island for a 360° view of the island and neighboring islands. Enjoy the sunrises and sunsets for an unforgettable experience! Arrive late afternoon for Nosy Faly and night on the way back to Nosy Be.

Day 6: Nosy Be - Nosy Tanikely

Departure to the marine park Nosy Tanikely, characterized by rich coral resources and frequented by sea turtles. A varied coral reef and a privileged location in the middle of the bay of Nosy Be in Madagascar give it the nickname of "natural aquarium". The marine reserve of Nosy Tanikely, with its abundance of corals and exceptional biodiversity, provides habitat for many underwater species. The warm tropical waters and the alluvial contribution of the river "Sambirano" lead to a large number of species that have made this small island their home. T he whole island is home to a diverse and spectacular fauna.Lunch on board in the morning, return to the crater in the afternoon and disembarkation. End of the tour

Help

FOR MADAGASCAR

After 10 months of total inactivity, self-employed people in the tourism industry in Madagascar are completely without income. There is no opening of the borders in sight in Madagascar and we are at the beginning of the rainy season, which is the low season, even in normal times. I have started a fundraiser for the guides and drivers I know well. From this money we will buy rice and other essentials and distribute them regularly, if possible, until the resumption of travel activities in April 2021 at the earliest. My special thanks to those who have already donated. I will start buying rice tomorrow and will begin distributing it this week.
