Paul Bertner - nature photographer with passion

Ranomafana waterfall

photography in madagascar

Nature photographer Paul Bertner is an ideal example of the magic that the red island exerts on its visitors. With all its magic corners, their so far still undiscovered creatures and their unique beauty it arouses a fascination that hardly anyone can escape. Paul Bertner has managed to express his fascination for Madagascar in breathtaking images that astonish interested parties and connoisseurs alike. His original profession, however, is different: Bertner is a biologist with a degree in cell biology and genetics, but realized not long after graduating that the tight constraints of the average lab setting weren't right for him. With a Trip to the AmazonBertner broke out of the conventions that had been given to him. The original, partly arduous way of traveling he chose, enriched his wealth of experience and demanded his mind in a way that everyday life as a biologist would never have allowed. A tire blowing out on his minibus in the middle of the jungle was certainly the smallest adventure Bertner experienced on his travels. Over the course of time, Paul Bertner came to realize more and more that his Travel, his wildlife and wilderness observations, and his camera formed an inseparable symbiosis. Equipped with the camera on the tracks of unique life forms on this planet, he found to his inner satisfaction and at the same time discovered a way to share it with others.

Magical Madagascar in pictures

After further training as a professional wildlife photographer and various trips to South America and Southeast Asia, Paul Bertner finally discovered Madagascar for himself. This took him with its unique creatures of the diverse Flora and Fauna from the first moment for itself like no other place before. Since then, he has traveled the island from south to north and from east to west, from Antananarivo on the Masoala Peninsula and from Tulear to Antsirabealways on the lookout for more fascinating and magical moments that make up the fascination of this island. He then captures these with his camera and transforms them into very special works of photographic art. Specialized has Paul Bertner for some time on Reptiles, Amphibians and Insects and some of the extraordinary photo motifs can be viewed on his website. Anyone who has always wanted to take a look at the fascinating sides of Madagascar, but has not yet been able to make their own trip to the island, will be thrilled by the pictures.

Help

FOR MADAGASCAR

After 10 months of total inactivity, self-employed people in the tourism industry in Madagascar are completely without income. There is no opening of the borders in sight in Madagascar and we are at the beginning of the rainy season, which is the low season, even in normal times. I have started a fundraiser for the guides and drivers I know well. From this money we will buy rice and other essentials and distribute them regularly, if possible, until the resumption of travel activities in April 2021 at the earliest. My special thanks to those who have already donated. I will start buying rice tomorrow and will begin distributing it this week.
